Bradninch Together, an initiative offering informal support for local people by local people now has its own website – https://www.bradninchtogether.org.uk/
The information below, however, is still valid.
Run by local people. Co-ordinating informal support, neighbour to neighbour
With coronavirus starting to disrupt everyday life, we want to be sure that everybody in Bradninch and Hele can get practical help from a neighbour. There is a network of volunteers across our community (see map and list below for the different zones and roads covered), and the sorts of things we can help with include shopping, collecting medication and dog walking – as well as a friendly phone call.
We are all volunteers, and the health and safety of everyone involved is paramount. Please expect that volunteers will not come inside your home. If you or anybody in your household is self-isolating, please let us know when calling so that shopping etc. can be left outside the house and conversation conducted by telephone rather than at the door. Please also note that we are unable to give health advice; for the latest NHS guidance, see https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer or contribute to the community effort in some way, please contact Anthony or Sophie (see below). And do remember that this initiative is for everyone in Bradninch and Hele – regardless of age or perceived vulnerability. We’re all going to need a helping hand over the coming weeks, so let’s pull together as the fantastic community that we are!
Please scroll to the bottom of the page for a map of the different zone and a list of phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the co-ordinator(s) of each zone: please do get in touch with them if you need a helping hand. If you are unable to reach your co-ordinator within a reasonable time frame, feel free to try Anthony (881 042) or Sophie (882 048). Your co-ordinator will arrange for somebody to provide practical help and/or ring for a chat.
Please note that anyone visiting your home as part of Bradninch Together will telephone in advance and let you know who they are and at what time to expect them. They will always carry ID.
There are currently 80 volunteers involved in the initiative, but there is always room for more! There are various ways in which you can get involved, even if you are self-isolating due to being in a higher risk group:
- We have a team of people dedicated to ringing those who would like either a one-off chat or a regular call. Contact Anthony or Sophie to get involved.
- NHS frontline staff will gratefully accept offers of home-baked goods for their departments, provided good hygiene practices are followed and these come from a symptom-free home. Contact Sophie for further info.
- Would you like to get back to the art of letter writing, and perhaps find a pen-pal of a different generation? Contact Sophie if you’re interested.
Latest news and updates

School supermarket vouchers
We understand that some schools are providing those entitled to free school meals with supermarket e-vouchers which apparently some supermarkets will only accept in printed form. If this applies to you and you don’t have a printer, please get in touch and we will be happy to arrange printing. Any information that you provide will only be shared with those who need to know in order to help.
Do also be aware that there is a scam going around in relation to free school meals. You should not be asked to provide bank details in order to receive support.

Bradninch Together is now live, with leaflets being delivered by Royal Mail. Please don’t hesitate to call for help, but do bear with us as we work through any teething problems over the next few days.
