Gift Week 8th – 14th October 2023

Photo showing the outside of the churchSt Disen’s has been here to serve the spiritual, cultural and social needs of parishioners and visitors since the Middle Ages. Maintaining our church and church hall though is no easy task. There is always work to be done. This year, for example, we are looking to raise funds towards refurbishing the kitchen in the hall and also to restore the clock on the church tower. Please can you help us to look after these buildings so that everyone can continue to enjoy them. If you would like to make a donation please click on the link on our Donations page. Everything donated this week will go directly towards the upkeep of the buildings. Thank you.

Wednesday Welcome extends its hours

As from October 4th our Wednesday Welcome will be extending its hours, 10.00am until 2.00pm.  As well as hot drinks and home baking, soup and sandwiches will also be available for lunch throughout the autumn and winter.  In the Church Hall, every Wednesday.  All welcome.

Ordination of Revd Hazel Britton

Head and shoulders photo of Hazel standing outside St Michael's Church, Teignmouth

Our curate, Hazel Britton together with four other ordinands were ordained as priests by the Bishop of Crediton at St Michael’s Church, Teignmouth on Saturday.  And today, we were joined by Hazel’s family and our friends from the Bradninch Baptist Church for a special celebratory service of Morning Praise, followed by a lovely bring and share lunch.  Congratulations to all.  As Hazel would say, ‘Rock On!’

Bradninch Town Fair

People looking at stalls under gazebos.              People dressed in red overalls running around with red wheelbarrows.

There was plenty to see and do and eat at the Bradninch Town Fair on Saturday with cake and craft stalls, a pop-up creperie, a chance to meet Issachar the donkey and also watch a performance by The Red Barrows.

Stained Glass Summer

Like many parish churches, St Disen’s has some beautiful stained glass.  It may be all 19th century but it has some interesting stories to tell.  So we’re taking part in the Church of England’s Stained Glass Summer to tell these stories which can now be found on our new web page, about the stained glass.  And, if you’re in the area why not come and take a look around the church.  You’ll find much to see.

Children’s Society Coffee Morning

PS The coffee morning was amazing and raised over £300 and there is still more to come through donations and collection boxes.  Thank you.

There will be a coffee morning in aid of The Children’s Society, tomorrow morning, 17th August, from 10.00-12 noon at 36 West End Road.  As well as coffee, there’ll be cakes available and a raffle.  All welcome.

Shorter hours for Wednesday Welcome

Our Wednesday Welcome will be shortening its hours in July, August and September to 10am-12 midday.
You are still assured of a warm welcome though, plus at the moment a reasonably cool place to sit. Coffee, tea, decaf versions, and plenty of squash and water are available, with home made cakes.
Bring your work or your reading, play with the games/toys depending on your age and interest, or just sit and chat.

Festival Praise

Join us this Sunday at 10.30am for a special celebratory outdoor service for the music festival weekend. You’ll find us on the cricket field (bring a brolly just in case!).
