‘All things bright and beautiful’

Thank you God for flowers

A poster put together by our Tiddlywinks Group to remind us that God is the creator of all lovely things.
Tiddlywinks is especially for babies and young children with their parents/carers. We meet in the church hall every first and third Wednesday of the month, 9.30am-11.30am.

Afternoon Tea at St Disens

Preparing tea

Enjoying afternoon tea

A cheerful, chatty group of church friends came together on Sunday afternoon to enjoy a special tea, including egg sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, Victoria sponge and apple cake, to celebrate the end of our Gift Week.

Gift Week & Afternoon Tea

St Disen’s will be holding its annual Gift Week from 2nd to 8th September. As in previous years all monies raised will go directly to the care and maintenance of the church and church hall. Please help us to continue to look after these buildings. Thankyou
And, to mark the end of Gift Week we are holding a Thank you Tea at 4.00pm on Sunday 9th September. All welcome.

Knit & Natter

Knit & Natter returns on Tuesday 18th September from 2.00 – 4.00pm in St Disen’s Church Hall. Help is available with your knitting and crochet if you need it, but please bring along any craft. Light refreshments served.

The Children’s Society

A most successful coffee morning was held on 2nd August to coincide with the annual opening of the collection boxes. A grand total of £911.50 has been raised this year. A big thank you to everyone – all that loose change adds up!

Coffee Mornings

Thank you to all who supported our recent coffee mornings in aid of our organ fund and the Childrens Society which between them raised some £400. But coffee mornings aren’t all about making money. They’re about meeting and making friends over a cup of coffee (or tea). So why not come and join us at our next Coffee Morning on Wednesday 22nd August at 10.00am in the Church Hall.

Wedding on 7th July

Congratulations to Ruth and David who were married in St Disen’s Church on 7th July. A lovely occasion on a beautiful day.

Songs of Praise on 10th June

Come and join with the Gospel Hall, Baptist Church and St Disen’s Church as they get together for a joyful session of hymn singing outside the Guildhall on Sunday 10th June at 10.30am.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission Plaque

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has put up a sign at the entrance to St Disen’s Churchyard as part of its First World War centenary project to increase awareness of war graves throughout the United Kingdom.  There are 8 war graves in St Disen’s Churchyard and another at the Baptist Church.

Although there are 8 war graves in the churchyard, there are only 7 grave sites as brothers, Private S. Elliot and Sapper V. Elliot are commemorated together.

Baptisms of Millie and Meadow

Family and friends came together on a beautiful May Bank Holiday Sunday to celebrate the baptisms of Millie and her baby sister Meadow.  The service included ‘Morning has Broken’ especially chosen by Millie and Meadow’s parents and a song, with plenty of actions, about how wide, high and deep God’s love is for us.

St Disen’s Church looked its best for the day too, set against a brilliant blue sky and blossom on the trees.

A lovely church on a lovely day
