What’s On: December

Christmas is Coming

December at St Disen’s starts with our Coffee Morning in The Guildhall on Saturday 6th December, from 10.00am until midday. There will be cakes for sale, bric-a-brac and, of course, a raffle with lots of lovely prizes on offer.

On Sunday, 7th December, we have a service Holy Communion at 9.00am, followed by Café Church in the church hall at 10.30am.  Refreshments will be served in the church hall from 9.45am.

We will be hosting another Café Church on Sunday 21st December. Café Church brings the hospitality of Wednesday Welcome and Sunday coffee times to worship. It’s worship in the church hall around tables (or on sofas!) with space for conversation and community, complete with pastries and drinks.

We have a service of Holy Communion on Sundays 14th December and Morning Praise on Sunday 28th December. Both are at 10.30am with refreshments served in the church hall afterwards.

Christmas gets going on Wednesday 17th December as we gather for Beer and Carols at The Castle at 8.00pm. This is a wonderful seasonal celebration as we raise the pub roof with praise. Then on Sunday 21st December we have our beautiful candlelit Carol Service at 6.00pm in the church a traditional service of carols and readings with organist, Alex West and Bradninch Voices.

Wednesday 24th December is, of course, Christmas Eve.  At 6.00pm we have our special, ‘knitivity’ Donkey Service.  Come early and meet Isachaar!  Then at 11.30pm we have a traditional Midnight Communion Service, welcoming the Christ of Christmas into our lives again as we see in Christmas day. On Christmas Day there will be a service of Holy Communion at 9.00am. The perfect start to Christmas morning.

Our monthly Knit and Natter is on Tuesday 16th December, in the church hall from 2.00pm.  Bring along any craft, not just knitting or just come and enjoy a natter and a cuppa.

You can be also be sure of a warm welcome at our Wednesday Welcome, in the church hall every Wednesday, from 10.00am-2.00pm.  As well as hot and cold drinks and home baking, we will also be serving soup and sandwiches for lunch.  So plenty of time to meet friends, make new ones, or have some quiet time to yourself. Please note though that there will be no WW on 24th or 31st December, but the team will be back again in the New Year to welcome you once more.
