An evening with Abi

This coming Saturday evening, 26th March, local singer, Abi Foster will be singing some of her favourite songs, accompanied by Alex West, to raise money for her forthcoming mission project in Ecuador for Latin Link.  The concert, in St Disen’s Church, begins at 7.00pm.  Entry is free but donations of course will be most welcome.  Donations can be made online on Abi’s Step Mission to Ecuador page.

Prayers for Ukraine, Russia & Peace

We join with Christians around the world as we pray for peace in Ukraine.

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have called for a day of prayer on Sunday and in addition there is a call for the global church to pray for peace especially on Ash Wednesday, 2nd March.  We will be offering prayers for peace at midday on that day and every weekday throughout Lent.

Bradninch United Worship

You are warmly invited to join us this Sunday, January 9th at the Bradninch Baptist Church at 10.30am for Bradninch United Worship.  Run jointly by St Disens and the Baptist Church, this is a new united service for everyone, to be held monthly on the second Sunday.  With space for reflection and great music, it’s a place for everybody whether you regularly worship in Bradninch or elsewhere and wherever you are when it comes to faith.  Next month we’ll be back at St Disen’s.

Christmas at St Disen’s

Knitted nativity figures

You are warmly invited to join us at St Disen’s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

At 6.00pm on Christmas Eve we have our Crib Service.  This year, to help keep everyone safer we will be holding it in the Churchyard.  So please do bring a torch and wrap up warm (and bring a brolly just in case)!

Also on Christmas Eve is Midnight Communion at 11.30pm and on Christmas morning we will be holding a said service of Holy Communion at 9.00am.  Both of these services will be in the church.

However, you are able to celebrate  and whoever you are able to celebrate with, we wish you a peaceful and joy-touched Christmas.

Christmas Flowers

There is much to look forward to at St Disen’s during this season of Advent.  This Sunday, 12th December, 10.30am we launch our new monthly Bradninch United service with a Christmas Special.  Then on Monday, 20th December we are hosting Carols by Candlelight.  There will be two services, at 5.00pm and 7.30pm.  These are ticketed events.  Email revollymears@gmail.com to reserve yours.  And in between, we have the Tiddlywinks and Messy Church Christmas parties.  See What’s On for more details.

Happy New Year

The altar covered with a purple cloth. There is a cross on the altar with a candle either side.

This Sunday is Advent Sunday, the start of the churches year and when we light the first candle on our Advent wreath.  The different festivals and seasons of the year are marked in the church by the use of different coloured cloths for the altar and lectern.  Purple is the colour for Advent, a royal imperial colour.  A fitting colour for Christ the King, the son of God.  The word, ‘Advent’ comes from the Latin, meaning ‘to come’.  The churches year begins then in expectation and hope, awaiting the birth of Jesus in the stable at Bethlehem.

Remembrance Sunday 2021

Bradninch War MemorialRemembrance Sunday gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect and give thanks for those who gave their lives for our freedom and way of life during the two World Wars and in conflicts since.  We give thanks too for all who safely returned home.

Our Act of Remembrance will begin at the War Memorial outside the Guildhall at 10.45am before moving down to St Disen’s Church for a Service of Remembrance.

Bradninch Fair

With events including a fun run/walk and morris dancing, community picnic, stalls and lots of activities there will be something for everyone at the Bradninch Fair this coming Saturday, 25th September.  St Disen’s Church will be open in the morning, 10.00am till 1.00pm.  So why not come and take a closer look at our medieval screen or see if you recognise anyone in one of our vintage photos of the choir in years gone by.

Sunday Afternoon Concerts

Come and join us for the first of our autumn Sunday afternoon concerts on 19th September at 5.00pm. Helen Porter, a multi-talented musician, composer and singer, will be presenting her ‘Unexpected Song’.
